PT. BAHTERA BENUA BIRU as Crew Management and Crewing Agency offers a full range of services that are connected with the crew. We conduct recruitment, screening, selection and placement of Indonesian seafarers who are generally specialized in fishing vessels. All our crews are checked for character, communication, qualifications and good experience. Our staff is careful to ensure that the crew meets the requirements for responsibility in their work.

We can provide full crew or individual positions from Master/Skipper, Deck Officer, Engineer Officer, Rating Seafarers, Hospitality, etc. We provide owners and ship management or fishing operators and fishing companies, the most skilled and qualified Indonesian seafarers. To meet this standard, our team recruits and filters all crews in all rankings. Apart from reference checks, preliminary testing (Marlins English Language Test online / offline for Seafarers) and must hold an IELTS (International English Language Test System) certificate for several Australian companies with a minimum score determined by our principals and personal interviews are done earlier. This crew member is the product of the best maritime school and the best training center.



1. Recruitment, Screening, Selection

Our recruitment process is dedicated to providing crews with maximum expertise and independent capabilities. We have an extensive computerized database for qualified and experienced Indonesian seafarers. We also emphasize that our crew must be able to communicate effectively in English. With our database, it is easier for us to search and find the best candidates quickly. All candidates were carefully selected, and then a personal interview was conducted. In terms of fulfilling the wishes of the principal, we invited the principal to interview them.


2. Documents, Training, Certificates

Our seafarers meet very high technical and operational standards. We carry out thorough verification of candidate documents and certifications, to ensure that these qualifications, experience and documents are in accordance with the demands of the strict standards of the Principal. Training and certificates adhere to the requirements of IMO, STCW, ISM, ISPS and Flag States and always the necessary experience relevant to the type of ship that employs seafarers. Administrative requirements for the Ship Registration Flag, the crew will be applied to the appropriate flag license and the appropriate special qualifications or mandatory certificates


3. Medical Examinations

Seafarers who meet our requirements must have medical licenses from accredited medical centers with their respective government bodies which match the Principal's flag of the ship. This is to ensure our Principals that the qualified seafarers we provide are suitable for duty on board.


4. Dispatching and Travel Arrangement

When seafarers are approved by the owner or ship management, we will receive a Guarantee Letter or OK to board, Agreement Articles, Visa, Airplane Tickets, and other crew requirements so that they can go from one place to another without obstacles. As soon as we receive the required documents, we will process the candidates as soon as possible and avoid delays. We always connect with local agents regarding flight schedules and other necessary details including with immigration authorities in our country.


5. Cost-Effective Service

All currency quoted in US dollars or EUR euros only and are subject to change without prior notice. The proposed salary scale and other expenses are negotiable, provided, however, that it meets the requirements set by the IOEA (Indonesia Overseas Employment Administration) standard on ranks and ratings and shall be within the prevailing salary rates imposed and practiced by the International Maritime Industry. The agency fees are within the standard to other manning / shipping agencies. Should there be any propositions to change the figures, discussion shall be on a case-to-case basis for the mutual benefit of the parties concerned and for the common welfare of the seafarers.
